Diesel Engine Repair
At DC Dynamics, we specialize in diesel engine repair and maintenance. There are a number of symptoms you can watch out for that indicate it may time to bring your diesel engine in to see us.
Diesel engines make a considerable amount of noise during normal, everyday operation, so it can be hard to diagnose problems by just listening. With all the normal ping, cling, clang, and bang sounds coming from your engine, it can be hard to know which noises are acceptable and which are not.
If you hear unusual noises or new noises you haven’t heard before, make sure to have them checked out.
Low RPMs / Hard-To-Start engine
A diesel engine running at lower RPMs or difficulty starting can be a sign of low fuel pressure, insufficient fuel supply or poor fuel quality. Low power complaints can also be caused by a loose throttle linkage or dirty fuel filters.
If the engine isn't cranking fast enough, we may need to check battery charge and condition, as well as the cable connections and the starter's amp draw. Problems in any of these areas can make any engine hard to start.
If you notice more black smoke than usual, it is possible your injectors need replacing. Our diagnostic tools can shut down each injector individually to see which one is the culprit.
Often indicates coolant in the combustion chamber—either a sign of a head gasket failure or EGR cooler failure (if equipped).
Can indicate engine oil in the combustion chamber—either from a bad valve seal or leaking piston rings.
